Career Coach in Tech

Practicum by Yandex is an online educational platform. At Practicum we believe that everyone has a chance to jumpstart a new career.

What is our goal?

Learning programming isn't easy and most of us did it the hard way. Our goal is to help students avoid common mistakes, accelerate their learning process, and help them land jobs. For the Web Developer program, we are looking for an experienced career coach in tech to support our students on their transition into tech. This is a part-time opportunity with an opportunity to grow into a full-time role.

What will you do as a career coach?

  • Coach & Counselor - Help all job-seeking students & graduates have a smooth transition from the main course to job seeking and that they feel supported during this process.

  • Community Engagement - Curate and facilitate our Slack student channels, find and share content about the web dev job market, influences, etc.

  • Artifacts Review - Write and review resumes, LinkedIns, career narratives, and other materials.

  • Tracking - Update our internal system on student progress and highlight to teammates when a student isn’t doing well or falling out of communication.

  • Interview Prep - Conduct mock (HR / Cultural Fit) interviews and provide the assessment according to Career Team guidelines.

  • Co-producing online events - Communicate with invited experts and encourage students and graduates to participate.

  • Work with the Practicum team to improve the career product and user experience.

  • Maintain excellent career coaching support (students give us 5 stars out of 5).

You might be a good fit if:

  • You have 3+ years of professional experience in a role focused on coaching/counseling or recruiting.

  • You are familiar with the tech (web development) landscape; previous experience working in some facet of the tech industry. Awareness of the tech job market and breadth of opportunities.

  • You are passionate about education & technology.

  • You are able to give constructive, positive feedback to people of diverse backgrounds.

  • You have high emotional intelligence; you are able to empathize with others.

  • For us a successful candidate is able to be flexible with their time because of the different time zones of our team and students.

• Remote, part-time work (15-20 hours/week).
